Closing ceremony of self defense traning programme 12.01.2015

The Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) earlier known as Crime Women Cell was set up in 2009 to give more sympathetic response to women and children complaints on priority basis. Further to empower women through exposure (demonstration) and training in techniques of Martial Arts, Self-defense training was started in the year-2002 by this unit. During the Self Defence training the participants are also being trained how to make use of things like Dupatta, Pen & Handbags to protect themselves from attacks by anti social elements, chain or bag snatching, criminal assault etc. We also trained them to protect/defend themselves from acid attack and terrorist attack. The training helps in building up the self esteem of students/women so that they do not feel vulnerable & humiliated.

As on date total 992 self defence training programmes have been conducted and total 122299 participants i.e. school/college girls students, housewives and girls in educational institutions across the NCT of Delhi have been trained in basic self-defense techniques. Whereas during the year 2014, 145 programmes have been conducted and 17699 participants were trained including students of 54 Schools & 11 Colleges. 03 Summer Camps (i) Kirpal Bagh, NPL, (ii) Rajkiya Sarvodya Kanya Vidyala, Shahdara (iii) Training Hall, SPUWAC were also organized during the year, 2014.

To further enhance capacity building of the trainers we are imparting improvement training to the trainers of SPUWAC through M/s Karate Association of Delhi Kanninjuku (KADK), DDA Squash Badminton Stadium, Sirifort Annexure, Sirifort Crossing Road, New Delhi.

The closing ceremony of 2nd Winter Camp is held today i.e. on 12.01.2015 at at I.P. Extension Bhawan, Opp. Plato Public School, I.P. Extension, Madhu Vihar Market, East Distt. and the Special Commissioner of Police, Crime is the chief guest of the function.

Emergency Mobile Apps Launched By Delhi Police To Help Girls In Distress, Apps Is Called Himmat…..

Himmat is a Delhi Police initiative for women safety. Himmat caters to the category of employed women who have smart phones and who travel alone sometimes late at night. The Himmat App can be downloaded free of cost from the Delhi Police website :-www.delhipolice.nic.in with effect from 04:00 PM on 1st January, 2015. This App is only for mobile phones working on Android, since a survey has revealed that most working women use Android based phone. In due course this facility will be extended to other operating systems as well.

Inaugration of refresher course of Self Defence Training of 31 Self Defence trainers of SPUWAC on 01.09.2014

In this Self Defence training the participants are being trained how to make use of things like Dupatta, Pen & Handbags to protect themselves from attacks by anti social elements, chain or bag snatching, criminal assault etc. The training helps in building up the self esteem of students/women so that they do not feel vulnerable & humiliated.
As on date total 952 self defence training programmes have been conducted and total 1,15,947 participants i.e. school/college girls students, housewives and girls in educational institutions across the NCT of Delhi have been trained in basic self-defense techniques. Whereas during the year 2014, 105 programmes have been conducted and 11,347 participants were trained including students of 35 Schools & 09 Colleges. 03 Summer Camps (i) Kirpal Bagh, NPL, (ii) Rajkiya Sarvodya Kanya Vidyala, Shahdara (iii) Training Hall, SPUWAC were also organized during the year, 2014. Besides, we have also requested Principals of 51 Schools/colleges and Director of Education of GNCT, Delhi to imparting Self defence Training provided by SPUWAC.
To further enhance the capacity building of the trainers of the Self Defence Unit we are going to impart further refresher course to the trainers of SPUWAC through M/s Karate Association of Delhi Kanninjuku (KADK), Sirifort Annexe, New Delhi, so that we are able to organize more training/summer camps as well as surveillances on public transport etc.
Sh. Taj Hassan, Spl. CP/Crime, Sh. Robin Hibu, Jt.CP/SPUWAC and Smt. Varsha Sharma, DCP/SPUWAC on 01.09.2014 inaugurates the refresher course of Self Defence Training of 31 Self Defence trainers of SPUWAC. This refresher course will be for 6 months/1 year.
